Early Sketches of Italy

From the sketchbooks—Italy, 1991-1999

Long before I began painting the architectural watercolors I make today, I carried a small leather-bound sketchbook through Italy. These early pencil drawings—made as an architecture student and on later travels—were some of my first attempts to understand a place through drawing.
